Post-Production Week Two, Troubles Arise.

As I moved into the second week of Post-Production, I have realised I heavily underestimated how long it would actually take to organise all the footage. The constant obstacles that I have faced, having to listen closely to what scene/shot/take each clip was and try figure out for the ones that either didn't have any indication of it's scene/shot/take or had the same scene/shot/take as another clip took a lot of my time up.

However, thankfully I had finished organising the footage this week and was able to begin assembling the timeline. I decided that I would split the timeline into two:

1st timeline: Scenes 1 to 8,
2nd timeline: Scenes 9 to 16.

Now the reason for this is I felt it would be more efficient if I got Scenes 1 to 8 assembled then as I began work on Scenes 9 to 16, Corbyn could begin sound design on the first timeline and then once he had finished that we would swap and I could begin colour correction and grading.

However, there was a small hitch to the plan. While I had organised all the footage, I hadn't organised any of the audio. But the good news is, I got to utilise the ability to outsource to others and with help from 4 other people (1 from my production group, the other 3 were from elsewhere), I was able to get all the audio organised and documented within two and a half days.

Taken from my spreadsheet for Post-Production.

This is what the 1st timeline looked after the first editorial and sound design pass by myself and Corbyn. The edit itself at this stage is very rudimentary as its missing colour correction/grading, effects, and just the final itty bitty details but the sound at this stage was very good, you could really see a difference between the film without any sound design vs having sound design.

This pass of the 1st timeline didn't have much involvement with the director, we did plan to book an editing suite on Friday to assemble the 2nd timeline (Scenes 9-16) but that fell through as I had other plans come up prior. We do plan to meet next week to assemble and finalise the used footage before I can begin the final stages of Post-Production.
